Fall 2020 I-PERSIST/Bridge Scholars Mentor Application

Fall 2020 Mentor Applications

Please Note: The application deadline has been extended to Monday, February 10, 2020!

Thank you for your interest in the I-PERSIST Mentor Program and/or Bridge Scholars Program. This application can be used to apply for mentor positions within both programs.  You may apply for more than one position using this application.

Note: This is NOT the application for new incoming first-year students that would like to be Bridge Scholars Program participants during summer 2020. This application is only for students who are applying to be mentors.

After completing this application, you will be asked to upload a current resume and cover letter.  Your cover letter should pertain to ALL positions for which you are applying. Your cover letter and resume must meet the following requirements:

  • Each document must be 1-full page in length.
  • Cover letters and resumes that contain typos or that do not meet the length requirement will not be considered.
  • Please do not use cover letter/resume templates. They are recognizable and will not make your resume stand out.
  • Make sure to proofread your cover letter and resume before uploading.

We strongly recommend having your resume reviewed by the Center for Career & Professional Development and cover letter reviewed by the Center for Global Communication & Design. Both are free, on-campus resources.

Your cover letter should address the following topics:

  • Why you would like to work with/mentor first-year students in your chosen subject area(s) - addressing both academic and social needs of students
  • Additional experiences and unique qualities you feel are relevant to the position
  • How you might engage first-year students in the mentoring process
  • Any other experiences that you feel have prepared you for this position
