Firewall Change Request Form

Please complete this form to request a firewall change. 

IMPORTANT NOTE:  While most requests will be answered within three business days, some requests may require sign-off approval from additional personnel within your department.

General campus local area network -- These types of firewall change requests will only be considered if they come from a faculty or staff member. Students requesting LAN services should find an appropriate faculty or staff sponsor to submit the request. Please note that these requests apply only to the general campus local area network, or LAN, and not ResNet.

In addition, all requests for firewall exceptions for campus web servers, excluding student personal web servers, are subject to the requirements of Rensselaer's Web Accessibility Policy. Any questions regarding web accessibility policy and conformance should be directed to the VCC Help Desk.

ResNet -- Rensselaer students who are on ResNet and who have obtained a static IP address may submit a request to run a personal web server (TCP port 80). No other inbound services will be allowed through the firewall, and we will not grant any changes to ResNet other than port 80.
